Fox News host Chris Wallace commented during the network’s coverage of President George H.W. Bush on Wednesday, saying he was struck by the “chill” in the front row of Washington National Cathedral when President Trump and his wife First Lady Melania Trump took their seats.
“You had seen a lot of chatty talk between the Clintons and the Obamas, the Carters,” Wallace claimed. “But when Donald Trump sat down, the greeting that he was given by Barack Obama and Michelle Obama was about as cool as it could have been.”
The Fox News host further said, these hostilities are part of the reason why President Trump really isn’t part of the “Presidents’ Club.”
Only moments before the Trumps arrived and took their seats, Former Presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter and their wives were already sitting together and chatting at the church.
The Trumps immediately greeted the Obamas with handshakes and then sat next to them. However, the Trumps did not exchange any greetings between themselves and the Clintons, or the Carters.
Hillary Clinton, in a very concerted effort to ignore the Trumps, didn’t even manage to turn to look at them. Many considered this to be the ultimate childish snub.
